IMPROVEMENTS OF NEWLY DEVELOPED ADSORPTION HEAT PUMPS GENERATING HIGH TEMPERATURE STEAM FROM WASTED HOT WATER

To spread applications of a newly-developed adsorption heat pump system which reproduces high temperature steam from hot water wasted from industrial processes, high humid gases instead of water are supplied to a reactor which is core of this system. Zeolite particles as adsorbent are packed into the reactor. The temperature responses of the packed bed and outlet gas are measured. Degradation of the adsorbent particles is investigated as well. As a result, vapor/absorbent system considerably inhibits degradation of the particles compared to water/adsorbent one on the heat generation process. Steam, or 100%-vapor, at 120 °C is superheated at higher than 200 °C. The temperature responses for air/vapor gases are similar to those for steam. The experimental results reveal that the present system has potential to be improved as generators of superheated steam, high temperature humid air, etc.
