摘要

A high performance simulation of a radioisotope thermoelectric generator was developed for use in a Monte Carlo simulation. The Monte Carlo usage places two demands upon the thermal model. First, the model needs to run possibly millions of times to generate an adequate distribution of the results and therefore, needs to have extremely fast solution times. Secondly, the model needs to provide for quick dimensional modifications since many of the Monte Carlo input distributions are upon critical fabrication dimensions. The complex nature of RTGs places more requirements upon the model, such as multi-physics and temperature dependent material properties. The design, testing, improvement, and sample results of such a thermal model are discussed.
