摘要

In the oil industry, after the wellbore is drilled into a reservoir, oil and gas will flow into the bore hole and can be transported to the earth's surface through tubing. Multiphase flow will take place in the pipe. Flow regime has a significant influence on production.
Flow pattern changes have a significant influence on nodal analysis. We introduce some basic concepts and some methods which were applied to detect essential parameters. These parameters such as slip ratio, void fraction, superficial velocity, bubble diameter are used to test the boundary of flow pattern. We compare different methods to analysis the transition between bubble and slug flows. The boundary of the flow pattern from bubble to slug flow is shown in different ways. And the methods of obtaining fluid pattern information are also included.
In this study, Ansys-Fluent is used to simulate different flow regimes, we set up multiphase model and the two phases we used are water and air. The water and air flow velocities range from 0.01 to 20 m/s and 0.05 to 10 m/s, separately. We use results from the simulations which have different gas and liquid superficial velocities combination to test exist flow pattern map and propose a better one for future study.
In this paper we concentrate on vertical upwards flow regimes. We gathered results from the simulation to measure how superficial velocity influences flow regime map. The results could be applied to predict different types of wellbore flow regime.
