摘要

This paper presents a pseudo-transient conjugate heat transfer analysis of an open double glazing unit (ODGU). The window consists of two 1 m height vertical semitransparent walls with a 2 cm air gap. Two different double glazing configurations were analyzed: (a) double clear glazing (DCC) and (b) clear-absorbent double glazing (DCA). Numerical simulations in the warmest design-day on each month in 2016 for climatic conditions in Monterrey were conducted. An in-house FORTRAN computational code was developed to model the diurnal period from 8:00 to 18:00 h. Governing equations of mass, momentum, and energy were solved by the finite volume method. The results were verified and validated with benchmark solutions, and they showed good agreement for all cases. From the results, it was found that the thermal performance of the DCA configuration for semi-arid climatic conditions showed the best thermal performance by decreasing the heat flux into the room and increasing the mass flow rate within the channel. In particular, it was observed a maximum average indoor heat flux reduction of 57% in December, and a minimum of 45% in May, both in favor of the DCA configuration. It was also noted that the average mass flow rate of the DCA glazing system is 25% higher than the presented by the DCC glazing system.
