摘要

A thin stream of viscous fluid falling from a certain height may twist and fold as it lands on a solid surface. A familiar example is the twisting and coiling of honey when it lands on a piece of toast. This behavior is similar to coiling of flexible ropes, and it is called liquid rope coiling. The purpose of this study is investigate the interaction among several rope-coiling jets. This investigation is based on a new three-dimensional approach which is very different from the methods used for liquid coiling in the past. The present study shows the occurrence of rope coiling phenomena for single and multiple jets. Although this behavior is clearly shown for both single and multiple jets in this investigation, it is surprising that little interaction occurs among the closely-packed jets. In addition to describing the behavior of liquid filament, temporal and spatial distributions of pressure, velocity, and fluid volume fraction are presented.
