摘要

Transient development of thermo-capillary convection about a vapor bubble suspended from a constant-temperature heated wall in a pool of thermally stratified liquid was numerically investigated. Time-dependent transport of fluid mass, momentum and energy were modeled and solved in both the vapor and liquid phases using the Volume of Fluid interface tracking approach on a modified version of OpenFOAM's interFoam multiphase solver. The strength of the convection currents and the corresponding flow-structure arising from the spatial variation of surface tension along the bubble-liquid interface was studied over a range of Marangoni Numbers (100 ? Ma ? 50000). The associated transient enhancement of heat-transfer at the solid-liquid-vapor triple point was also evaluated for the range of Marangoni Numbers and the peak values of wall heat-fluxes are seen to increase with an increase in Marangoni Number. The wall heat fluxes also exhibit a transient behavior as they strengthen progressively with the intensity of the Marangoni currents. The resultant stream lines, temperature profiles and velocity profiles and wall heat fluxes are presented in this paper.
