Abstract

The objective of this paper is to study the experimental forced convection heat transfer over flat plate placed under multi-nozzle plate jets. Experimental investigations are carried out for heat transfer and pressure loss from nozzle array impingement on the target wall at various Reynolds numbers. The range of Reynolds numbers used are between 22,000 to 28,000 based on average nozzle hole diameters to cover the incompressible flow regimes. Three different nozzle plate configurations are used with closely spaced holes of varying diameters. The nozzle plate holes are chamfered to minimize pressure loss through the jet plate. The flat plate heated with uniform heat flux condition is used. A target wall giving the enhancement of heat transfer with the nozzle plate-1 and 2 is in the average range of 10% to 20%.
