Abstract

The tubular heat exchanger is one of the best choices used in aero-engine cooled cooling air system for its reliable structure and low flow resistance. In this paper, two types of heat exchangers with snakelike structure and double helix structure are recommended. Three-dimensional models are created in NX 6.0. The flow and heat transfer performances are numerically investigated based on ANSYS CFX 14.0. The numerical model is validated by experimental data for the snakelike structure. We mainly focus on the pressure drop of each configuration under the same heat transfer rate. The results show that the double helix structure has better performance than the snakelike one.
