Abstract

The objective of this work is to research the steam submerged jet condensation with different nozzle types. The steam jet length and condensation oscillation frequency with different nozzle types under a series of pool temperature and steam mass flux are investigated experimentally. Three types of nozzles with hole-diameter of 8 mm are tested. The result indicates that the dimensionless jet length prolongs gradually with the pool water temperature and steam mass flux increasing for all types of nozzles. And the steam jet length of straight pipe nozzle is longest and that of side-hole nozzle is shortest. Empirical correlations are obtained and for each types of nozzles. The condensation oscillation frequencies for each type of nozzles are also investigated. Condensation oscillation frequency decreases gradually with the pool water temperature and steam mass flux increasing. And the deviation of condensation oscillation frequencies among different nozzle types is small. Moreover, the expansion coefficients ratio is provided to change with the steam mass flux, water temperature and nozzle structure. With the new correlation of steam jet lengths and expansion coefficients for each type of nozzles, the oscillation frequencies for each type of nozzles is predicted, and the error is within±10%, approximately.
