The characteristics of heat transfer and flow resistance in a rectangular channel with vortex generators are studied numerically in the range of the Reynolds number Re=8900−29900. Five kinds of vortex generators with the same frontal area were used in the present study. The results show that, when R=(j/j0)/(f/f0) is taken as the comprehensive evaluation criteria, the half-cylinder vortex generator is the best. Then the effect of arrangement, length, radius and spacing of the half-cylinder vortex generators on the heat transfer and flow resistance were investigated. When the half-cylinder vortex generators are arranged along the side-lined row, the thermohydraulic performance factor is the largest. With the increase of the generator length, the thermohydraulic performance factor increase at first and then decreases and has the maximum value at 4/8H. With the increase of the radius and the decrease of the spacing, the thermohydraulic performance factor decreases.
