要約

Cold plate is an effective way to shield a high temperature object to ensure personal safety. In this research, both horizontal and vertical cold plates with a serpentine flow design were investigated through experiment and simulation. Simulation models of both cold plates were constructed and verified with experimental results, and the influences of structural and operating parameters of cold plates on the thermal shielding performance were discussed, including the number of flow passes, the thickness of channel, the inlet volumetric flow rate and the thickness of thermal insulation material attached to the hot surface of the cold plate. The results indicate that as the number of flow passes increases, the temperature uniformity of the cold surface can be improved, but its average temperature will increase. It was found that when the channel thickness is 3 mm, there is a local maximum value for the average temperature and the maximum temperature difference of cold surface where the thermal shielding performance is poor. In addition, increasing the inlet volumetric flow rate and the thickness of thermal insulation material can significantly improve the thermal shielding performance of a cold plate.
