要約

A spectral collocation discrete-ordinates method (SCDOM) is developed to solve the vector radiative transfer equation associated with polarized radiation that is common in situations such as atmospheric solar radiation transfer. In this hybrid method, the angular discretization is based on the discrete-ordinates approach, and the spatial discretization is conducted by the spectral collocation approach. Chebyshev polynomials are used to build basis functions for collocation nodes. The node convergence rate of the SCDOM is found to follow the exponential decay trend. Two different cases are tested to verify the performance of the SCDOM. The accuracy and effectiveness of the SCDOM are demonstrated in comparison with other methods. The angular distributions of Stokes parameters predicted by the SCDOM agree well with available data in the literature. Calculations with a 2-D cloud model are also carried out.
