TiO2 nanoparticles can be applied to improve the efficiency of photo electrode materials used in dye solar cells (DSSC). This research investigated how to form the porous thin layer of TiO2 nanoparticles on FTO (F-doped SnO2) substrate using a water-based TiO2 nanofluid. The 100 nm TiO2 nanoparticles with bundle-shaped morphology were produced to investigate photo-electrode properties in dye-sensitized solar cells. It was found that the TiO2 nanoparticles can be dispersed uniformly into deionized water. A layer of nanofluid was deposited on the FTO substrate, using spin coating method and then sintering was carried out to join the TiO2 crystals and form a thin porous layer of TiO2 particles on the substrate. We demonstrated that sintering plays a key role on 3D morphologies and porosity of deposited TiO2 nanoparticles in the films.
