Resumo

When a tire pass through a water film on the wet road, the length of contact ground would be significantly changed such might affect the stability of the vehicle. Therefore, a good understanding of the flow behavior when the tire passing through a water film on the wet ground. The main objective of this paper is to propose a strategy to investigate the dynamic flow distribution during the tire going through the water thin film and then evaluate the characteristic of the water drainage on the wet road. FlowVsion, a computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software based on the Sub-Grid-Geometry-Resolution (SGGR) technique, is adopted to make the transient simulation of the flow field for the tire rolling through a water thin film. A real tire experiments are conducted via putting a real tire of a large water tank. The images of the tire drainage are captured trough a transparent bottom. Then the length of contact ground for the tire could be estimated and compared with both the CFD simulations and the water tank experiments. The results could be a good reference for the future deign of the tire drainage.
