Resumo

Energy conservation is a crucial part of thermodynamic systems because of the limitation of energy sources. Therefore, exergy analyses of such systems are important to researchers. Here, laminar forced convection of Al2O3/water nanofluid flowing through a ribbed annular channel is studied numerically. This kind of annular channel is used in many applications such as heat exchangers, refrigeration systems, etc. in which higher heat transfer rate is the goal. Inner and outer walls are maintained at the different uniform temperatures and Reynolds numbers are ranged from 500 to 1000. The results show that adding ribs and nanoparticles both increase entropy generation of the system, however, the total entropy generation is less than one, showing the reversibility of the system. It can be also observed that both thermal and frictional entropy generation become more influential with the increase in Re and most of entropy generation is due to the thermal effect.
