摘要

Panel radiators are one of the most used heat transfer devices in domestic heating systems. However, because of its complicated geometrical and heat transfer conditions it has not achieved enough attention for detailed investigations. Hence, it still requires further rigorous investigations. The aim of this study is to enhance the heat output of a panel-convector-convector-panel radiator using numerical techniques. Simulations were performed in an enclosure which was held at 20°C. In this study, particular interest was given to the convectors in between the radiator panels. The whole radiator was modelled with different convector geometries, and simulations were done for different convector thickness, height, length, geometry and number of convectors. It was observed, that with increasing thickness, height and length the heat output increases. Also, a rounding at the tip of the convector has an augmenting effect on the heat output. Using these findings an optimized radiator was obtained and manufactured.
