摘要

Insect flight has fascinated researchers due to its complex nature, and the most intriguing aspects of it is the influence of wing corrugation. The significance of corrugation in enhancing the aerodynamics of the wing still remains an open question. Therefore, as part of this study, the effects of wing corrugation as well as wing coupling in forward flight were examined using a three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics strategy. Simulations were used to determine the aerodynamic effects of wing venation on the flow surrounding the wing. The influence of a morphologically accurate insect wing model in flight on the generation of lift, thrust, and flow features has not previously been investigated in detail. Our results indicate that the effects of wing corrugation in forward flight are pronounced. The impact of corrugation will be demonstrated by tracking pressure profile changes of the wing and the coefficients of lift and thrust for the wing with and without the hindwing. It is observed that the absence of hindwings causes drastic lift reduction in forward flights.
