LOCAL STABILITY ANALYSIS FOR OPTIMAL PERFORMANCE OF AN ENDOREVERSIBLE CARNOT REFRIGERATOR WITH LINEAR PHENOMENOLOGICAL HEAT TRANSFER LAW
Abstract
Local stability analysis of an endoreversible Carnot refrigerator at the maximum cooling load is
analyzed with linear phenomenological heat transfer law between working fluid and heat reservoir.
After a small perturbation the system state exponentially decays to steady state with either of two
relaxation times that described as a function of heat capacity, total heat exchange area, temperatures
of heat reservoirs and heat transfer coefficients. The behavior of solutions of the system is presented
qualitatively by sketching its phase portrait. It is suggested that both energetic properties and local
stability of the system should be considered simultaneously. The results can provide some
guidelines for designing the real refrigerators.
