Abstract

The study focuses on corona wind assisted enhancement in evaporation of non-polar heavy hydrocarbon from a microliter volume circular well cavity. The characteristics of vapor phase transport have been experimentally investigated using digital holographic interferometry (DHI). Hexane is used as a working fluid. Total time of evaporation has been decreased more than 15 times due to corona wind compared to natural evaporation case. This can be attributed to the convective transport initiated by the corona wind and increase in the vapor mole fraction gradient due to the thinning of vapor cloud in the normal direction. The present study displays the capability of corona jet assisted thin film evaporative cooling system for the thermal management of next generation electronic components.
