要約

Experimental data are presented for convection heat transfer from circular disk surfaces facing upwards and with an imposed heat flux. Some studies have been done for upward facing surfaces but the experimental data in particular data is limited as many of these studies are numerical simulations. Circular surfaces are practical for many applications including electronic components. The use of self-heated thermistors to indirectly measure convective heat transfer coefficients is unique and different from the classical method of mounting multiple heat patches inside of, and temperature sensors on the surface of a heat transfer model. From this experimental data, a dimensionless correlation is developed in the modified Rayleigh range on the low side which would correspond to smaller objects such as electronic components.
