Аннотация

Despite several investigations on vortex-induced vibrations (VIV), fundamental questions related to parameters used in the cylinder dynamics equation model, still exist. In this work, a method to identify the mass, spring and damper coefficients (so-called equivalent parameters) is proposed. An experimental apparatus was built to study free oscillations of a flexible circular cylinder in steady current along the entire lock-in region (Re from 97 to 320). Experimental results suggest that equivalent parameters can explain in a better way the behavior of the cylinder. Frequency of the cylinder is in agreement with the value of the added mass. Maximum amplitude and hydrodynamic response are related with the total and the vortex phase angle, respectively. Discrepancies were found comparing actual and literature results.
